Compared with sows fed ferrous sulfate, sows fed the same level of amino acid iron from the first day of gestation to the weaning stage had a shorter interval of 0.4 d from weaning to estrus, and their weaned piglets had significantly improved body weight. The addition of amino acid iron to feed can promote the growth of piglets. Adding iron methionine to feed can significantly increase the growth rate of broilers and increase their daily gain. The average daily gain of broilers increased by 5.38% and the feed to meat ratio decreased by 1.17% when iron methionine or ferrous sulfate were added to broilers' diets. When 80 mg/kg iron methionine was added to the diet of laying hens, the weight gain and internal organ development of broilers were significantly better than those of control cocks, and the body weight of broilers at 21 and 28 days of age was 10.57% and 14.94% higher than that of control cocks (P < 0.05). Adding proper amount of organic iron into the feed of laying hens is more beneficial to increase the laying rate and reduce the breaking rate of eggs significantly than adding ferrous sulfate.
